Too much of the same thing can bring boredom. It has been an exciting week to talk about all the beautiful chairs and chaise lounges that I find interests in. Well, my interests is far beyond the few pieces that I had discussed. But, I will come back to them later. For now, I will move away from Modern Classics and Contemporary Sculptural Furnishings to something more comfortable, something more, luxurious. Luxury and Minimalism seldom mix. But some designs does that in harmony.
Pierluigi Cerri created Studio Cerri & Associati in 1998 and the Studio designed the Quadra Sofa for Poltrona Frau in 2006. An “elegant and rational” design, as described by Poltrona Frau, the Quadra consists of various modules that has three different armrest heights and can be configured in different combinations. The Poltrona Frau Quadra can be upholstery is in Pelle Frau® leather from the Color System, Heritage leather or non-removable fabric. The mono-block padded seat with mid-back rest is supported by 2 silver finished metal legs to complete the minimalist design with air of luxury.
A White or Grey Leather Quadra Sofa will harmonize in symphony with my plans for a Modern-Contemporary Minimalist Design. The straight lines and the low profile design goes well with the Minimalist Core while maintaining the right level of luxury and warmth. I will go for the low armrest which I had tried and found it surprisingly comfortable despite it’s low profile design. It can also serve as a functional flat plate to hold nice leather trays such as those from Hermes.
The highly configurable sofa is suitable for both large and small spaces. Configuring it with corner chaise creates a large L-Shaped Sofa while leaving it in it’s 3-seater guise allows it to maintain it’s position in a small living area. This versatility and its Minimalist-Luxury Design is the key appeal which is almost certain to find its place into my Living Room.
